Sound credits

This page lists the source and licence of every sound that plays on pomodig. Only audio cleared for commercial use goes into the mixer, and nothing gets added until its licence has been checked.

What is playing, and where it came from

The four field recordings in the mixer all come from the Pixabay sound effects library at pixabay.com/sound-effects.

The licence: CC0 (public domain)

CC0 is a waiver in which the creator gives up as much of their copyright as the law allows, placing the work as close to the public domain as possible. You may use the file commercially, modify it, and republish it without crediting anyone.

So there is no legal requirement to name individual creators here. The sources are listed anyway, for two reasons: it is the record we check against when a clip is replaced, and a site that carries advertising should be able to show where its material came from.

What CC0 allows

  • Commercial use — playing these files on an ad-supported site is fine.
  • Editing and re-encoding — trimming a loop or lowering the bitrate is allowed.
  • No attribution required — leaving out a credit line is not a licence violation.

What we still do not do

There is no download button for the audio. The files play as part of the service; they are not redistributed or sold as a sound pack.

Nothing is hotlinked from another site. Every clip is served from this domain.

The sounds with no file: white, pink, and brown noise

The three noise options use no audio file at all. They are synthesised in your browser with the Web Audio API, which means nothing is downloaded and no copyright attaches to them.

It also means those three keep working with no network connection.

The rule for adding new sounds

Any clip added later has to clear the same bar.

  • CC0 first. No attribution burden, simpler to maintain, and the least likely licence to change terms later.
  • If a CC BY file is ever used, the creator and source get named on this page — that one is mandatory.
  • Nothing that bars commercial use. A site carrying ads is a commercial use, with no exceptions.
  • Nothing ripped from a video platform or a blog, where the rights cannot be traced.
